The Salisbury Society began back in October 1979 when a small group of
fifteen people met to consider forming an association of local artists.
For many years, the Society struggled to find a permanent home, finding temporary placements in Church halls, Schools, Kindergardens, even private homes. We finally settled in the Salisbury Institute on 4 May 1982.
The Society became an incorporated body with its Constitution in 1986, also taking part in the Jubilee 150 Celebrations that year.
Then in 2024 we welcomed in a new era with our move to the Salisbury East Neighbourhood Centre.

We believe art is for everyone. Whether you're a seasoned painter, a curious beginner, or someone who just loves being around creativity, you're welcome here.
We're a relaxed, friendly group who enjoy making art together, sharing ideas, and encouraging each other.
There's no pressure - just a supportive space to try new things, learn at your own pace, and connect with others who loves the arts.
