The Salisbury Society began way back in 1979.
Nearly 45 years later, we still stand for "fostering the arts in the Salisbury area, with emphasis on embracing all art mediums.
The Society became an incorporated body with its Constitution in 1986, also taking part in the Jubilee 150 Celebrations that year.
For many years, the Society struggled to find a permanent home, finding temporary placements in Church halls, School rooms and Kindergardens, as well as private homes. We finally settled in the Salisbury Institute on 4 May 1982 where we remained for over 40 years
Now in 2024 we welcome in a new era with our recent move to the Salisbury East Neighbourhood Centre.

The 90s was a boom time for the Society. We held more exhibitions, invited more guest speakers, held displays and organised outings. It was in 1992 that we extended our "opening hours". Wednesday mornings became popular workshop days,
and the Saturday mornings were reserved for tutorials
