Our Exhibition Highlights

We have held several exhibitions over the years, including

SALA statewide exhibition, Waikerie Rain Moth Gallery, Parabanks shopping centre, and Two Wells and Birdswood galleries. We proudly still offer this opportunity to all members to exhibit their work, and offer preparation advice, help and assistance.

    Artist of the Year 2025

    Saturday 29 November 2025

The Salisbury Artists present a range of experience, from those who are just beginning, to those who have enjoyed the thrill of painting over many years.

Each artist is free to use a whole range of mediums and you can see examples of people working in oils, acrylics, pastels, water colour, alcohol inks or a combination of those.

Each artist is unique and so are the subjects they choose to paint.

As a group of painters we draw confidence from each other,

learning side by side and having a wonderful time.

This year's judge was Ellen Steyn assisted by Sharyn Sinclair and Julie Bruno from the Gawler Art Society

        Artist of the Year 2024

Our first Artist of the Year at the new centre. We are trying a new format. Instead of accumulated points gained from the four quarterlies during the year, we held a special exhibition and all members were invited to submit two works finished in the past year.

Judge: Jenny Henry, the Exhibition Co-ordinator from Salisbury Council

Opened by SAS President Fay Jeanes and Jenny Henry

          Majestic Leopard by Jennifer Atterton

During SALA I began this painting to show any visiting guests the different steps and layers of how I go about creating my pastel paintings. I use 3 versions of the same reference shot including: 1. An over-saturated shot for depth during the under-colour. 2. A black and white shot for the different values 3. A high DPI photographic quality shot for the details. Eyes are my speciality, and I pay close attention to these to bring out the realistic appearance

            SALA 2024: Artistic Odyssey
